On Friday 15th March, we at YABA, like many were horrified by the devastating and tragic news from Christchurch, New Zealand. It was their home, and the 50 Muslims who died whilst in their house of worship should have been safe. YABA support people of faith everywhere and we stand behind every human’s right to be safe, to live in grace and dignity, and to worship, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or religious affiliation. We join the world-community in condemning the tragic and brutal hatred unleashed at the Mosques on the Muslim’s Holy Day of Prayer, and we  support the New Zealand Council of Victim Support Groups please visit the crowdfunding campaign if you would like to make a donation.

National Apprenticeships Service (NAS) & YABA Roundtable 2nd May 2019

In partnership with NAS, YABA will be facilitating a roundtable discussion about apprenticeships, work force development or using the Apprentice Levy for their workforce development plans. Mohammed Mayat Intermediary Engagement Manager National Apprenticeship Service Education and Skills Funding Agency is really keen to understand the views of YABA members.  Did you know that a YouGov survey revealed that more than one in three GB businesses (42%) are worried about maintaining quality teams in the next two years?  Findings also indicate that many businesses are doing little to improve staff retention.  Nearly a third of businesses in the region (30%) admitted to offering no formal professional development for employees despite 80% of employees saying quality training is an important factor when deciding whether to leave a job. This comes as statistics show UK plc is still lagging behind its G7 counterparts in productivity, one factor that could explain the lack of engagement, could be a perceived cost barrier. Nearly two thirds (64%) of employers don’t offer external training to staff as they believe the cost is prohibitive. This is despite most businesses qualifying for either fully or part funded apprenticeships via the Levy. Please get in contact if you would like to attend this roundtable discussion
