CityFibre is building a new full fibre digital infrastructure across Bradford as part of a £75m private investment in the area, providing access to the next generation of superior broadband to its residents.

What is full fibre?

Full fibre broadband is currently only available to around 12 per cent of UK premises and is regarded as the best in connectivity for its speed, near unlimited bandwidth and reliability. This goes far beyond simply helping households access the latest entertainment at lightning speed and stream from multiple devices with ease. The benefits are much deeper, from enabling smart home technology, giving people the ability to work from home seamlessly and laying the foundations for smart city initiatives.

According to research from economic consultancy Regeneris, full fibre connectivity will have a major impact in Bradford over the next 15 years. It shows that up to £136m could be added to the value of local homes, while Smart City initiatives could add as much as £95m locally. Access to full fibre could also unlock £69m in business productivity and innovation, while a further £40m in growth could be driven from new business start-ups, with enhanced connectivity making it easier and less expensive to set up base and run efficiently.

Where are CityFibre building?

Construction work is underway in Bowling and Tyersal, with the first customers now live and able to access gigabit-capable internet services of speeds up to 1,000Mbps through Legend Fibre. The rest of the city is set to follow over the next four years.
