Bradford College is preparing young people for the high-tech, low-carbon workforce of the future through a network of specialist skills hubs.

Through the Future Technologies Centre, the college is bringing employers, industry bodies and training providers together to develop an innovative employer-driven training programme. Bradford College is now inviting YABA SME members to join the hubs and help shape the workforce of the future.

Asa Gordon, Assistant Principal at Bradford College, said: “The college’s mission is to Transform Lives by developing a delivering a curriculum that meets the needs of our students, employers and our community.”

The hubs, representing key industry skills needs, include Sustainable Transport, Sustainable Construction and Allied and Medical Health Technology. Hubs in Digital and Engineering are in development.

Major names such as Halfords and Tesla are now driving the college’s courses in automotive engineering. At the same time, BAM and Keepmoat is shaping Bradford College’s construction curriculum with Du Poy providing strategic leadership of the Meditech Hub.

Bradford College is committed to supporting youth and adult learners to acquire new skills to secure jobs and aid businesses to grow and expand their products and services. The College’s business skills funding initiatives, together with its Future Technologies Centre Hub partnerships, are designed to help businesses and the region increase employment opportunities, ensuring that people have the access to high quality training alongside industry recognised qualifications to support progression to work. Businesses are invited to engage with these Hubs to develop the College’s curriculum offer, with a number of innovative bespoke qualifications currently in development that have been designed in conjunction with employers. With a range of funding initiatives available, as well as skills assessments and training plans, there is a real opportunity for business to engage with Bradford College to meet their future skills needs.
