Leeds born and bred, Bobby’s career started out in grassroots style; “I got into events purely by chance. After working for my Dad in the shops I wanted to move on so thought, what else can I do?

Me and a few friends set up Leeds Mela, in Roundhay Park, which went from 30,000 footfall to over 60,000 footfall over the years.”

He went on to have a fifteen year career at Logistik Agency before launching Grace & Tailor in 2010.

Grace & Tailor quickly became synonymous with live events, delivering some of the most creative and engaging outdoor events across the UK, and grew into a full-service event management agency, offering event production services alongside in-house creative design teams and event health and safety. “As we’re able to offer everything in-house, this keeps our client’s budgets lower than if they were using agencies that sub-contract these other services” explains Bobby.

With Bobby still very much involved in the day-to-day running of the business, 2020 was set to be another profitable and successful year, with a full calendar of exciting events and a full roster of clients.

However, along with the Coronavirus pandemic came instant sector-specific restrictions; “2020 has been catastrophic for us in terms of business growth”, says Bobby. “From March, every single job was cancelled. I’ve had to streamline both my team and my business, but we’ve regrouped and diversified and moved into creating connected experiences for clients, through virtual and hybrid events. While face-to-face meetings are still subject to UK Government restrictions, we recognise that clients still need to engage employees and their audiences. We’ve live-streamed various virtual and hybrid events, from networking sessions and employee development sessions, to charity DJ entertainment fundraisers, weddings and award ceremonies. I’m confident that we have the resilience to weather the storm, adapt to the “new normal” and continue to deliver seamless events for clients old and new”.
