Following the success of 2021, the West Yorkshire Innovation Festival is back – and in-person!

Created to celebrate and empower innovation, the festival aims to cast a spotlight on some of the most ingenious success stories in the region. With the West Yorkshire Mayor’s Innovation Prize up for grabs, this year promises to be bigger, and more innovative, than ever before. But firstly…

What is innovation?
It may seem like the asking the obvious, but innovation is a broad term that encompasses more than you may expect. According to Collins –

Innovation is the introduction of new ideas, methods, or things.

In our eyes, this means innovation should be open to all and not depend on background, age, scale, or industry. Everyone – business or individual – has the potential to be innovative, and this should be celebrated.

Who is organising the festival? Where will it be hosted?
Originally conceived by the West Yorkshire Innovation Network (led by Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin), this festival will run in partnership with many key regional stakeholders and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

Events will be held across the region from 3- 6 October, hosted by a wide range of partners; from family-run local businesses with a new approach, to cutting-edge scientific advancements born from the Yorkshire Space Hub.
