We think we know everything about our loved ones, but would we know their organ donation decision?

Karen Piotr is leading the initiative at Bradford College and also at Bradford Teaching Hospital encouraging us all to talk to our families about our organ donation decision.

Her husband died in 2017, and she knew his decision so could agree for his organs to be donated. In total eight people received life-saving organ transplants.

By talking openly about her experience, she hopes that people will be inspired to go and talk to their families. By appearing as guest speaker at many talks, doing TV programs and at College events, as well as being a Trustee for the Donor Family Network and Chair of the ODC (Organ Donation Committee) she is certainly passionate about the need for us all to talk about it.

She says ‘’that by having these conversations, we change hopefully change the stigmas and attitudes associated with organ donation, resulting in a positive change for Bradford communities’’.

You can contact Karen at k.piotr@bradfordcollege.ac.uk if you would like to invite her to speak at one of your events.
