On 20 July 2023, the Telegraph & Argus announced the Bradford Means Business Award winners, which included the Social Mobility Award, sponsored by the University of Bradford.
The awards focus on giving recognition to the best businesses in the Bradford district by shortlisting them to celebrate their success. The ceremony, which took place on 20 July, had awards for 11 categories judged by a panel.
MyLahore, co-founded by University of Bradford alumnus Shakoor Ahmed, were awarded both the SME Business of the Year award and Business of the Year award.
Across other categories a number of University of Bradford alumni, Bradford Top 100 business and Help to Grow: Management alumni were nominated as finalists for awards.
This included the Employer of the Year award where Platinum Partnership Solicitors and Schofield Sweeney both receiving nominations. Both companies had participants who completed Cohort 5 of the Help to Grow: Management programme in June 2023.
Schofield Sweeney took home the prize as Employer of the Year, celebrating their success in managing employee engagement and well-being.

This continues to highlight the success and impact of businesses in the Bradford region following the first release of the Bradford Top 100 Report, a collaborative effort to recognise the best firms in the Bradford district between the University of Bradford, Bradford Council and Telegraph & Argus. Schofield Sweeney, who sponsored the first Top 100 event and report, were ranked 55th with other Help to Grow: Management alumni being named as notable others.

Knowledge Transfer Network Responsible Management Podcast
Earlier this year the School of Management released the new Responsible Management Podcast. The podcast is part of the offering within our Knowledge Transfer Network and aims to bring academics and industry experts together to explore what responsible management means under different contexts and how you can combat daily business challenges.
Three episodes, which are available on all major platforms, have been released to date with episode four due for release at the end of July 2023. So far a range of topics including the role of responsible management, supply chains and employee engagement and well-being in wide ranging discussions.

Bradford Business Challenge
As a part of the School of Management offer to support businesses, social enterprises and charities with a focus on aiding growth we have the Bradford Business Challenge projects.
This is a three-way collaborative partnership programme between the School of Management, final year business and management students and local organisations. We’ll work with you to develop your business projects which will then be undertaken by our students under guidance of academics to identify and co-create solutions for local problems that resonate globally. The project will culminate in a comprehensive strategic report with recommendations providing you with solutions to your organisations challenges.
