Intercultured Festival is back for its third year for Autumn 2023, with 10 days worth of events celebrating the cultures and communities that make up our incredible city of Bradford. Come join us for an array of music, dance, spoken word, creative arts workshops, and more. Highlights include; Sound Bath by Calm Spirals on the 19th & 26th October at Bradford Cathedral, Dance with Words, a dance and movement workshop provided by SAA UK at Keighley Library, and Harmony After The War, an evening of Kurdish music and Syrian poetry with tea and cakes, to be held at Kala Sangam on the 21st October. There will also be a myriad of amazing events at Bradford Library, including a Family Fun Day on the 21st October, The Other Side of Hope by Alex Plasatis and friends on the 24th October, and the wonderful Pahari Mushaira on the 19th October.

We will also see the return of the fantastic festival finale, The Commoners Ball, our family friendly event where you can dress to impress and enjoy a series of live music, where we will highlight local musicians and bands, championing local causes and social issues, on the 28th of October at The Midland Hotel. The full festival programme is now live, and there’s something for everyone to enjoy! Mussarat Rahman, Festival Director said: “Intercultured is a modern day representation of Bradford, bringing together cultures and communities from all walks of life. We welcome families, men and women, intergenerational families of today. Where we are in today’s fragile socio economic times, we aim to be inclusive, making sure there’s space for all to be heard and seen. The festival is co-created with artists, communities and local organisations, to celebrate Bradford as a creative home for all, learn from global majority voices through cultural activities, and amplify culture across Bradford and Keighley.” Other events include Threads Of Survival on display at City Library, a powerful and thought-provoking collection of handmade quilts made during Covid-19, coordinated by the campaign group 99 Call for the NHS. Film screenings of Release, showing on the Big Screen at City Park. Produced by Whispered Tales, attendees can watch three compelling stories of female migration.

If it’s fun for all the family you are looking for, head to Laisterdyke Library on 23rd October for the Laisterdyke Family Festival, an afternoon of arts, crafts and cultural activities. For those interested in creative workshops, we have a full range of activities available such as Explore Textiles with local artist Jane Sedgewick, World Poetry Cafe with Diyo from Good Chance Theatre, and free the Craft and Create family fun day in Oastler Market event space. Cecil Green Arts also welcome back their annual Lantern Parade at Lister Park on the 27th October, the perfect opportunity to get creative and take part in live street theatre! The majority of our events are free, but places are limited, so booking tickets is advised!
