Commercial awareness and an understanding of business and finance are some of the most sought after skills by employers. The AIA Certificate in Business Finance is an exciting new qualification which enables candidates to develop specialist knowledge and expertise in the core components of business finance, boost their employability, advance their knowledge and gain a recognised qualification.

The qualification is open to all and has no set entry requirements. You can enrol on this course at any time. There are 2 exam sessions each year. The time to complete the qualification will depend on how much time candidates have to self-study and when you enrol, but you could qualify in as little as 6 to 9 months.

 

Structure

The AIA Certificate in Business Finance is designed to deliver the knowledge, competencies and professional conduct expected of those exploring a career in any business or finance field.  The qualification consists of 4 components which are tested via a single, online, multiple choice exam.

 

  1. Financial Accounting

This unit is designed to ensure that students can: explain and identify accounting concepts and the regulatory purpose of accounting standards; describe, prepare and summarise basic accounting records; identify accounting concepts in presenting financial statements for unincorporated and incorporated business entities; and describe and explain the financial position and performance of an entity.

  1. Business Management

This unit covers the major schools of management thought; the key aspects of organisational culture and design; the main elements of organisational control and the importance of management information in the control process; the use of information technology in modern business management.

  1. Management Accounting

This unit focuses on the role of management and cost accounting within an organisation; the nature of costs and their classification including the calculation of material, labour, expense and overhead costs for various products and services; and financial decision making.

  1. Corporate Governance & Audit

This unit outlines the purpose of corporate governance and auditing; the inter-relationship between corporate governance and auditing; and how corporate governance and auditing contribute to the safeguarding of capital markets.
