At CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform, we’ve been laying new technology that will enable the delivery of the next-generation of broadband package. We are pleased to say this is now available in parts of Bradford – with plans to reach nearly every home and business soon – and there’s more options than ever before.

Bringing full fibre connectivity to Bradford has represented a £75m investment, with construction work, courtesy of our build partner Network Plus, underway since February 2021. Full fibre is, quite simply, the best digital communications technology available. It not only paves the way for significantly faster speeds, but it’s also more reliable than traditional networks, and will serve your broadband needs for decades to come. With full fibre enabled services you can expect:

  • Increased efficiency: significantly faster speeds for upload and download. This means you can access what you want in the blink of an eye – waiting for files to download or videos to finish buffering will be a thing of the past.
  • No more competing priorities: near limitless bandwidth means everyone in your household or office can work, study, stream or game online simultaneously without a challenge.
  • Connectivity you can depend on: The clever design of our networks means that if there’s a break in one connection, it can instantly be rerouted via another. We’re also constantly monitoring our networks, so problems are often detected and fixed before you even notice!
  • Futureproofed for growing demand – once the fibre is in the ground, it’s there for good and maintenance work is drastically reduced. We plan twice, build once and build right.

Work is well underway in Bowling, Listerhills and Tyersal, and the first customers are already enjoying the best internet experience available following the launch of live services in July.

Makhanjeet Singh, one of the first residents to sign-up for Legend Fibre’s gigabit-speed broadband, saw a drastic change in both his leisure and business experience. He explained: “During the short time I’ve had the service the difference in speed and reliability is huge. We opted for the one gigabit service, which easily covers my family’s requirements and that of my corner shop business. I’m proud to be one of the first residents in Bradford to get the service as I know how important a fast, stable broadband connection is for families. I’ve been telling all my customers about the service and what a gamechanger it is.”

Unlike many areas of the UK, an increasing number of Bradford residents are not only able to access a gigabit-capable internet service, they can also choose their favourite package from a growing list of national and local internet service providers, which includes TalkTalk, Vodafone, Legend Fibre and Zen Internet.

Kim Johnston, CityFibre’s Regional Partnership Director, CityFibre’s representative in Bradford, said: “Our growing list of ISPs offers a competitive choice of full fibre services to homes across the region, which is great news for people in our communities, particularly at a time when access to fast and reliable broadband is more important than ever.”

Residents interested in connecting to full fibre broadband can find out more by clicking the link on our homepage and entering their postcode to see if services are live in their area. If they’re not already live, they can register their interest to receive information as and when services become available.

It is a crucial time to be rolling out this game-changing technology and we look forward to seeing how people and businesses across Bradford use the platform we are creating to flourish and prosper.
