Leeds Trinity University is committed to preparing graduates for success in today’s competitive job market.
Leeds Trinity Connections is a mentoring programme, designed to bridge academia and professional achievement, supports students from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds by connecting them with mentors who can guide their career development.
Leeds Trinity University invites Yorkshire Asian Business Association (YABA) members to consider joining as mentors, providing a unique opportunity to inspire confidence and shape the future career paths of Leeds Trinity students as they transition from university into the workforce.
The programme will provide students with tailored mentorship experiences. Each student will select one of the schemes below and we hope to pair them with a mentor who can offer expertise and insights into their chosen respective scheme.
- Business, Tech, and Finance: Ideal for students pursuing roles in management, finance, business, and tech, mentors share industry knowledge to help them navigate these dynamic fields.
- Creative and Media: Focused on students interested in journalism, digital marketing, film, and media careers, this scheme helps students explore varied career pathways, including agency roles and freelancing.
- Education: Geared toward future educators, this scheme allows mentors to share their classroom experience and insights with aspiring teachers.
- Health and Wellbeing: For students targeting careers in health, sports, or wellness, mentors offer guidance on qualifications and the real-world demands of these sectors.
- Community, Legal, and Social Justice: This scheme supports students interested in social work, legal professions, and justice fields, providing them with insights into these impactful career paths.
Mentors and students engage in regular meetings to discuss career goals, industry insights, and shared experiences. Mentors act as guides, offering encouragement, expanding students’ professional networks, and helping them understand the skills and resilience needed to succeed in today’s workplace.
Benefits for Mentors
Mentors in the Leeds Trinity Connections programme gain valuable personal and professional rewards. They enhance leadership skills, expand their networks, and establish a reputation as champions for diversity and student success. Importantly the programme also offers organisations the chance to connect with emerging talent and witness firsthand the evolving skills and perspectives within the student community.
Mentor Time Commitment
We would expect mentors and mentees to meet approximately once or twice a month for 30-45 minutes.
