Since December, boys and girls aged 10-14 have been taking part in weekly sports sessions delivered by the Town Foundation at Soothill Community Centre in Batley!

Run in partnership with the Dawatal Islam Trust, the sessions are free to attend open to children of any faith or none.

The first six weeks consisted of Boxing, with the Foundation’s Youth Worker Brad Jennings holding a level 1 qualification with England Boxing.

Since then, the group has moved onto a three-week block of multi-sports, games and nutrition.

After the half term break they will plan and execute a social action project with the aim of raising money for a charity of their choice, as well as making a difference locally.

The programme will finish with two weeks of football before a rewards evening including FIFA on games consoles, table tennis and food.

Children are welcome to join the session at any time and the Town Foundation plans to start another similar offering during the summer at the same venue.

This session is part of the Premier League Kicks programme, in which delivery takes place on other days at different locations throughout the week.
