FEDERATION OF ASIAN BUSINESSES (FAB) INDIA AND NORTHERN POWERHOUSE TRADE MISSION

As members of FAB, YABA are supporting this important trade mission to India, which is taking place now until 30th November. The aim is to ultimately platform and prioritise the Northern Powerhouse offer to India, creating a special and direct partnership with their most progressive states.

Why India? India is the second largest country in the world by population, the world’s largest democracy and the second largest English speaking nation in the world. Recording an annual average growth rate of 7.5% from 2004 to 2013, India’s economy is now growing faster than China’s. The country’s economy is also set to exceed the size of the UK economy in the next few years and is forecast to be the 7th largest economy in the world by 2019.

India’s new government is committed to pursuing economic growth and steps by the NDA government such as the “Make in India”, “Digital India” “Skill India” and “Smart Cities” and various business friendly reforms have created a positive business environment in the country. India’s growth is largely driven by domestic demand, fuelled by a rapidly growing middle class. It is an important market for UK goods and services, including consumer products.

KALA SANGAM – DR. L. SUBRAMANIAM PREMIERES AT PICTUREVILLE FOR HIS FIRST PERFORMANCE IN THE NORTH IN OVER TWENTY YEARS!

Kala Sangam and Pictureville Cinema at the National Science and Media Museum unite to work in a rare partnership, bringing the world-class classical violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam to Yorkshire for the first time in over twenty years.

Dr. L. Subramaniam trained in medicine in India with Bradford based Kala Sangam founder Dr Geetha Upadhyaya, but has never been up here to play. This performance is a historical event that will be forever remembered as a milestone for Yorkshire. The performance covers over 200 recordings he has produced and performed, some of which were collaborations with legends in both Indian and Western music including Yehudi Menuhin, Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock.

Dr. L. Subramaniam also brings outstanding Mridangam and Tabla performers Dhulipala Srirama Murthy (Mridangam) and Tanmoy Bose (Tabla) for this one-off event. Between them, they have won Grammy Awards and have composed music for classical orchestras, ballets and award-winning feature films. World famous Bollywood singer Mrs Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam will be making a special guest appearance at the event to perform a welcome song. The recipient of four Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer Awards, this rare opportunity to see Mrs Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam perform is yet another reason to grab a ticket for this must-see concert.
