Aspire-igen has recently launched the progress2work programme in Bradford, Kirklees and Leeds to help adults develop skills and confidence to move them closer to work, education or training. Clients can access therapeutic support, employability skills training and volunteering opportunities, as well as guidance, information and advice to help them achieve their goals. Having started in July 2020, the team have had to quickly adapt to challenges posed by Covid-19 guidelines and lockdowns. Here’s what the team have been doing to tackle the issues they have faced. The team have been outreach-based, meeting clients in their local areas and providing much-welcomed face-to-face support and guidance. Digital inclusion has been a strong focus since the programme launch, and with many people lacking digital access or skills, partnerships are being made in all three areas to improve our clients’ and the wider public’s ability to stay connected. As England goes into its second lockdown, our wellbeing has never been more important. The progress2work team have launched wellbeing workshops in November, to work with existing clients and members of the public to improve mindfulness, wellbeing and confidence. We hope to hold more of these events over the coming months, so keep your eyes peeled for more updates.
